ULIP and HESAM: Moving Forward Together
Tim Gore, CEO of University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP), and Michel Terré, president of HESAM Université, recently met to assess progress since the institutions signed a cooperation agreement in June 2019 and discuss future plans.
The first fruit of the ULIP and HESAM partnership will be ‘In-Between’, a three-day international conference taking place at ULIP, École Estienne, and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris la Villette on March 19-21. The event will investigate the latest curricular innovations in applied arts, design and architecture, and involve students and academics from both institutions, including contributions from ULIP Director of Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Anna-Louise Milne and QMUL’s Rachele Shamouni-Naghde.
‘My discussions with Michel confirmed that improving student experience is central to our partnership,’ says Tim Gore. ‘So we were glad to learn that the student unions at ULIP and several HESAM schools of applied arts have been in contact and begun planning the first of a number of extra-curricular projects.’ With long-standing and strong ties to their host cities, ULIP and HESAM have also been further exploring how to increase cooperation in urban studies, smart cities and fashion, as well as the possibility of jointly developing distance learning, including with Coursera and FUN MOOC.
‘I’m very excited by these initial joint ventures,’ says Tim Gore. ‘They are a demonstration of our strong desire to continue developing this collaboration on many different fronts to ensure that Paris remains a world centre for innovative education.’
