Last weekend we welcomed just under forty applicants, their parents and guests, to ULIP for our annual Journée de Rencontres. The day offered the chance for prospective students interested in our BA programmes in French Studies and International Politics to tour the ULIP building, meet staff and current students, and to explore Paris!
After a warm welcome from ULIP's CEO, Sir Tim Gore, the day started with a focus on practical matters in the form of a presentation from the friendly Student Services team on finding accommodation and setting up home in Paris. Attendees then had the choice between a taster lecture in French Studies or International Politics to really get a feel for the courses available and their different components. Lunchtime offered the opportunity to meet current students and take a tour of the library, teaching and study spaces, as well as the all important SU and social areas of the ULIP building. The afternoon was spent out and about in the city in small groups, each led by a current student, exploring hidden corners of Paris and taking the chance to get to know future coursemates a little better. We rounded off the day with the students presenting the findings of these expeditions to their parents and guests before sharing final thoughts and questions over drinks.
We hope that all the day's attendees enjoyed the Journée de Recontres as much as we did - it was great to meet so many prospective students and offer them their first taste of university life.
If you are still interested in visiting ULIP then it is not too late! We are more than happy to offer tours of the facilities and meetings with staff by arrangement. Please do get in touch with us to book a date - firstname.lastname@example.org
